Located in the beautiful Kansas Flint Hills, Grimmel Schaake Cattle Company is owned and operated by Shane and Melissa Schaake. Built from a shared passion for the cattle industry and a vision shaped by our values and goals, the GS brand represents the cattle we believe in and the legacy we hope to leave behind.

Long before GS, our stories in the cattle industry were taking shape halfway across the country from one another. Shane was raised on a registered Simmental operation in Kansas, while Melissa pioneered her way into the cattle business as a first-generation Hereford breeder in Maryland. After meeting our freshman year of college, we began laying the foundation of GS, bringing together a common philosophy — cattle should be bred with purpose and built to create lasting value.

At GS, our program is centered around functional, maternally driven Hereford and Simmental females. We believe females should look like females — maternal in their design, sound and functional from the ground up, productive in the pasture, and built with longevity. We appreciate the look, presence and quality it takes to compete at the highest level, but never at the expense of function. The banners are rewarding, but the cow behind them is what matters most.

Solid cow families remain the foundation of everything we do. We invest in proven genetics while continuing to develop generations of our own, combining maternal strength, structural integrity, phenotype and genetic merit. Every mating is made with the next generation in mind — creating cattle with lasting value and genetics capable of making an impact not only in our program, but in the programs of those who invest in them.
